THINGS TO CONSIDER AFTER HAIR TRANSPLANT SURGERY

  1. The transplanted area must absolutely not be touched. Even the slightest bump, friction, or impact may dislodge the
grafts and result in graft loss.,
  2. Since the numbness sensation will continue after the procedure, please move with care, especially when getting in and
    out of vehicles.
  3. The sleeping position must be on your back only. You must never sleep on your side (right or left does not matter) or
face down. To prevent rolling sideways, you may place a pillow between your arms.
  4. To prevent the transplanted area from touching the surface you sleep on, any face towel from home should be rolled up
and placed under the back of your neck. (There is no problem if the bandaged donor area touches the surface.)
  5. NOTE: If transplantation was performed only on the front area, a pillow may be used while sleeping. Even when using
a pillow, take care not to sleep on your side or face down.
  6. The underpad (patient pad) provided in the cardboard bag should be spread over the rolled towel (with the cotton side
facing up). It will be used to prevent staining of the sleeping surface. Since it is large in size, it may be cut in half for
    use.
  7. The medications applied during the operation (local anesthesia) will be eliminated from the body within 2–3 days.
During this period, blood-colored discharge will occur from the donor area. The medications take on a blood-like color
as they are expelled from the body, so there is no cause for concern. These medications are also eliminated through
urine and sweat, therefore drinking plenty of fluids is important and necessary.
  8. Especially during the first 3 days following surgery, you should rest as much as possible lying flat on your back (looking
straight up at the ceiling). Since the medications are administered subcutaneously, prolonged standing may cause
swelling or bruising on the forehead, under the eyes, and at the temples. Apart from eating, using the bathroom, and
resting, you should remain lying on your back. If such swelling or bruising occurs, it is not harmful to your health. In
such a case, first apply ice to the swollen area, then massage with any cream (to provide lubrication).
  9. There is an average crusting period of 7–10 days. All instructions must be followed until this period is complete
  10. Your diet should be rich in protein and vitamins. This will help accelerate wound healing during the crusting period. You
should also avoid heavily spicy, salty, and oily foods, as they make it harder for edema to subside.
  11. If you smoke, drink alcohol, use hookah (shisha), or use any substances, these should be completely stopped or
significantly reduced. They lower oxygen levels in the blood and slow circulation, which prevents proper nourishment of
    the grafts.
  12. Sexual intercourse should be avoided during the first 10 days after surgery.
  13. Until the crusting period is complete, choose clothing with zippers or buttons. Garments such as t-shirts, sweaters, or
undershirts should not be worn, as they carry a risk of friction.
  14. The transplanted area must always remain uncovered. Beanies, hats, or hoods absolutely must not be worn during the
    entire crusting period.
  15. The hair band provided in the cardboard bag should be used if you are going on a long journey or if you will be
standing for a long period. By applying pressure to the forehead area, it will help prevent fluid from descending to the
face. Apart from such necessities, no bandage is required — you should rest by lying down.
  16. No strenuous sports should be performed for the first 3 months.
  17. For the first 2 months, avoid Turkish baths (hammam), saunas, the sea, steam rooms, solariums, swimming pools, hot
    showers, and direct sunlight.
  18. If you work in a dusty environment, after the crusting period is complete, protect the transplanted area by wearing a
surgical cap or a non-clinging hat.
  19. From the third month onwards, hair dye, gel, mousse, wax, and concealer (topik) may be used. If used, the hair must
be washed on the same day.
  20. After the crusting period ends, your hair will look normal again. Once the crusting period is complete, your sleeping
position and clothing style may return to normal.

WASHING PROCEDURE TO BE APPLIED AFTER SURGERY

  1. The first wash is performed at the clinic on the second day after surgery. On the same day, the bandage at the back is
also removed, and the donor area is left uncovered as well.
  2. The foam provided in the cardboard bag is used throughout the washing period.
  3. The demonstrated wash should be repeated once a day for 10 days.
  4. First, the foam is squeezed onto the entire transplanted area. Then, using the palm of your hand with a gentle pressand-release motion, the foam is worked into the lower layers. During the first 2–3 days, mild pain, tingling, or burning
may be felt — especially along the hairline — and this is normal. For this reason, do not hesitate to apply pressure.
  5. After applying the foam, wait for 15–20 minutes.
  6. Then, rinse the foam off with lukewarm water at medium pressure. During this process, occasionally apply the pressand-release motion to the transplanted area to ensure that any remaining foam is rinsed out as well.
  7. Rubbing and friction are absolutely forbidden. Only the press-and-release motion should be applied.
  8. There is no special wash required for the donor area. Crusting will occur there as well. Apart from the foam used on the
transplanted area, the donor area may be washed with any shampoo and gently rubbed. Since there are no grafts that
can be dislodged in the donor area, rubbing is not a problem.
  9. Starting from the 8th day of washing, while applying the foam, you may begin removing the crusts in a back-to-front
motion. Each time, the motion must be from back to front and not in a rubbing/circular manner.
  10. Throughout the washing period, the priority is the transplanted area. The remaining hair in the donor area will continue
    to grow.
  11. During the crusting period, itching may occur in both the transplanted and donor areas due to healing. Itching should
be relieved by gentle touching, never aggressively. Ice may also be applied.
  12. During the crusting period, when showering, the transplanted area may be washed as described while the body is
    washed separately.,
  13. Washes are essential and must be repeated correctly and regularly. Otherwise, excessive crusting will occur and stick
to the skin. This may also cause grafts to adhere to the skin and result in graft loss.
  14. If any crusts remain at the end of the 10-day period, the same washing procedure may be repeated for a few more
    days.
  15. After the crusting period is complete, the hair will look normal. You may return to your usual washing routine, but it
should still not be done too aggressively.
  16. After surgery, the transplanted area should be trimmed only with scissors for the first 6 months, while the donor area
may be trimmed with scissors or clippers.
  17. In the first month after surgery, the transplanted hairs will shed in the form of fine strands (shock loss). This event,
observed in approximately 90% of patients, is normal and not a cause for concern. After the shedding, the grafts will
    continue to grow.
  18. Loss of sensation in the skin varies from person to person and may continue for some time. It is caused by the
anesthesia administered and is not a cause for concern.
  19. During the first 3 months after surgery, acne and itching may continue, which is normal. However, if the acne increases
significantly, please contact us without fail.
  20. From the first month onwards, you may massage the transplanted area with your fingertips. This helps to accelerate
    circulation and promote graft growth.
  21. The total result period for a hair transplant procedure is one year. The satisfying appearance emerges after the 3rd–4th
month. Since circulation in the front area is faster than at the crown, density may differ in appearance between these
    regions.
  22. After the operation, you must absolutely send follow-up photographs via WhatsApp at the 3rd, 5th, 9th, and 12th
    months for monitoring purposes.
